Is there internship facility and placement during the course?

It is compulsory for students of hotel management course or Hospitality management to complete an internship for a period of time as part of their  course programs. Academic credits are given to the students after completing a successful internship. Doing internship in hotel/ restaurants are transitory and by working along with professionals allows you to gain practical experience and knowledge. The intern students gains knowledge and skills and it helps in applying those skills while working as a employee .This applied experience will give some information about the career path that they opt after graduation.
Many hotels that provides hotel management courses, will often give first preference to past students and interns. Former interns who performed well during internship period are mostly offered a permanent position after graduation. Mostly the interns are not paid but some get paid by hourly basis. However,  the hotel interns may receive benefits like lodgings, free meals or the usage of swimming pools and other facilities. During the holiday periods, there are more availability of hotel internships.


Students before joining the institution, they should know about the hotelmanagement course details, so that students are aware of placements and internships that the institute offers. Interns in hotels are encouraged to gain knowledge and skills that relates to their academic program and future career objectives. the students are usually asked to concentrate on one specific sector /area during their internship. However, there are some chance of cross-training depending on the rules and roles of the hotel. The objective of the internship during this course is to learn about the policies, procedures, terms and regulations, working systems of hotels/departments they work in. Hotel internships for students are available within sectors  as follows - Lodging; Culinary; Food and Beverage; Housekeeping; Human Resources; Marketing and Accounting.

 The interns working in Culinary sector specialise in the area of banquet and catering service and on the other hand, the students may work as a trainee chef/baker in the hotel kitchens. The interns working in the Lodging department get specialise in front office management like greetings and reservations. This may involve becoming skilled with the reservations software used in hotel and also gain experience as  caretaker or porter. The interns working in housekeeping sector work as room attendants, inspecting and cleaning the visitors accommodation space and also get involved in laundry procedures and in house maintenance. Internships are offered even in sales and marketing department, helps in the organization and functioning of promotional events sometimes required to make new business by distributing promotional materials and carry out administrative work in hotel industry. The hotel management institution help students to get place in a appropriate hotel as intern and provide information on hotels that often offer internships.
